SPRING THOUGHTS (Monday, March 11, 2013)

I want to go somewhere else
To Paris, for instance
Dance by the Seine with a handsome partner
My navy bell-shaped skirt would make a perfect circle
As he turns me around
Friends sitting by the banks
Cheering
Swinging to the right and left
Laughs would expand and rise to the blue sky
Like rainbow-colored balloons
A little kid would pull her mom’s hand
And point to the red one
Stars in her eyes
Then I would sit in a small café
Sip a glass of Bordeaux and
Watch people behind dark sunglasses
Decide on one to slip into
To be him or her for a couple of weeks or months
Maybe the young girl across my table
Wearing a large hat and in shorts
Texting her boyfriend
Her delicate fingers incredibly fast
Or the elderly man smoking his pipe
The third page of Le Monde on top
Folded into two
Beside a cup of coffee
Lost in thought or memories
A single teardrop at the corner of his eye
To be wiped off by the bittersweet touch of an old love
Buried in the Seine.
